Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the work of Service Technicians: 95%
• Lead the work of, serve as a resource to, and train Service Technicians.
Perform the same duties as Service Technician, as required.
• Provide back-up for the manager. Handle more complex service problems. Assign job
orders and other tasks within the department, ensuring the work load is evenly distributed.
• Oversee progress of work being completed, offering suggestions when needed.
• Lead parts ordering and purchasing, ensuring at least two price inquiries are
obtained for each part ordered. Maintain contact with vendors, keeping apprised of new
equipment that might better suit NFM’s needs.
• Provide feedback to management and assist with writing performance appraisals or
handling disciplinary action.
• Monitor the battery handling process, ensuring that correct warranty information is
updated on all equipment.
• Inspect condition of all conveyors, and correct any potential problems that could
cause downtime.
• Maintain Fleetkeeper database, updating it with any changes in equipment, as well as
updating mission statement measures on all staff.
• As necessary, provide back-up or assistance to all other levels of Property
Management staff.
Training, Safety, and Cleanliness: 5%
• Attend OSHA required safety classes and specific training as mandated by NFM (i.e.,
Quality related classes, Service Plus, Back Education, equipment training, etc.).
• Use sound safety practices when operating machinery. Identifies, reports, and take
positive steps to correct any safety/security deficiency affecting NFM staff.
• Keep work areas and tools in clean, orderly, and safe working condition.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years of experience with repair of Material Handling Equipment required.
• Lead, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
• Experience with “Crown” manufactured equipment preferred.
• Must attend EV-100 operating training.
• Must have good working knowledge of electrical circuits, be able to work with wire
diagrams, and be able to read and understand schematics.
• Must be able to weld (wire or stick) and use a torch (oxygen or acetylene) to cut
and braze. Knowledge of shop equipment, e.g. lathe, mill, drill, tire press, hand tools,
power tools, etc.
• Valid driver’s license and ongoing acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work off ladders and high lifts.
• Ability to push up to 100 lbs., pull up to 110 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 90
lbs. Ability to climb stairs.
