RN Occupational Health Services
Utilize nursing skills to assess the health of workers who are referred to OHS by their employers to include all Alegent Health employees. Performs testing procedures and initiates appropriate interventions and referrals. Assesses and recognizes symptoms of acute illness and refers for appropriate treatment. Assesses physical and emotional needs of employees and intervenes appropriately.
Maintains all client, medical, psychological and drug and alcohol information as confidential according to Alegent Health policy.
Serves as a liaison between employees, employers and the medical community. Seeks out experts as necessary to address the needs of the client (employee and employer).
Participates in the formulation of medical protocols. Acts as a resource to managers relative to the fitness for duties of employees.
Maintains knowledge of OSHA, State Health Department, and principles of Occupational Health medicine, and State regulations related to Workers Compensation. Documents all information related to injuries and assists in the processing of Workers Compensation claims.
Experience
1 to 3 years of experience as a registered nurse, preferably in an Occupational Health Clinic, Emergency Room, Urgent Care clinic, or General Medical office practice. Past phlebotomy experience preferred.
Education and Licensure
Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so must be licensed in the state in which you reside.
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal relationship skills, phone, basic computer skills.
Competent in nursing assessment skills.
Ability to learn and operate multiple pieces of equipment including Evidential Breath Alcohol, Industrial Pulmonary Function, Centrifuge, Hearing testing booth, Bell Tone, Titmus Eye machine, and Computer. Understanding of sterile technique.
