Job Title: Class A CDL Truck Driver
Department: Millwork / Lumber
Position of Immediate Supervisor: Dispatcher
General Summary of Responsibilities:
Safely deliver manufactured building components to jobsites using a tractor and flatbed trailer and unload said product in a safe manner that will prevent damage while providing excellent customer service.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
• Perform all details of a qualified driver, such as daily equipment inspections and reports; continuously monitor truck operation; complete necessary paperwork such as drivers log and mileage book.
• Check material loaded onto the truck against paperwork to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure product is properly secured for delivery.
• Ensure any permits necessary have been obtained and the load is legal.
• Decide on proper approach to delivery, following guidelines from supervisor or dispatcher as in the case of bad weather, unusual site conditions and equipment maintenance.
• Obtain approval on all loads from area supervisor or dispatcher.
• Communicate with the dispatcher and loaders in the yard to maximize delivery efficiencies.
• Willingly assist in a variety of ways to provide excellent service to our customers.
Experience:
• Proven safe driving ability; 21 years of age and a Commercial Drivers License Class A required.
• Minimum one year driving a tractor and flatbed trailer.
• Three years experience driving flatbed trailer, one year on truss roll-off preferred.
Education:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Diploma from accredited driving school preferred.
Other Requirements:
Able to lift up to 100 pounds, tolerate outside weather extremes. Completion of the Department of Transportation physical and drug screen is required. Hearing loss cannot exceed 40 decibels in best ear.
