The Planning and Inventory Manager is a business partner to the merchants in providing analytics in support of Fishing II Supporting Lures, Accessories, Ice Fishing and Fly Fishing assortment planning, location planning, key item planning, and allocation and replenishment of product. Ensure the merchandise planning process and in season business and inventory management for the company maximizes sales, enhances gross margin and improves inventory productivity.

Essential Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains the global pod merchandise financial plans, assortment plans and item plans for areas of responsibility, translating the company strategies and vision into actionable plans with profitable results for all channels.
  • Ensures product replenishment and allocation for maximization of sales and profit potential for all channels, managing productivity of inventory.
  • Develops, reviews, and manages company inventory and pricing strategies to achieve company financial goals and meet competitive standards.
  • Accountable for the category level analysis of all product performance in all channels for their area of responsibility to support the weekly and monthly performance review processes MPR.
  • Leads, trains, and develops the Merchandise Planners, Replenish/Allocation Analysts, and Inventory Specialist.
  • Partners with the Category Manager on the development and execution of merchandise and assortment strategies.
  • Provides feedback on the assortment definition and planning, space planning, demand planning, and operational budgets. Provides input to the Category Manager on replenishment methods by vendor, i.e., cross dock, direct ship, DC replenishment and provides guidance on product lifecycle price management. Provides input to weekly/monthly performance reviews (MPR), identifying current trends in performance and changes inventory strategies as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree plus three to six years previous relevant experience.
  • Minimum: Include a total of five to eight years previous relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in the following computer programs: Microsoft Word and Excel, AS400, JDA, Evant, Enterprise Planning or equivalent planning system.
