This position will assist in the daily operations of the Office of Safety and Risk Management, managing the development and implementation of UTC preparedness and emergency management programs, procedures, training, and exercises as they apply to internal operations as well as coordination with external agencies. The position will also assist with regulatory compliance efforts as they relate to existing and future environmental programs on campus. Responsibilities include: maintaining UTC’s environmental compliance management system; managing the development and implementation of UTC emergency preparedness and emergency management programs, procedures, training, and exercises as they apply to internal operations as well as coordination with external agencies; providing disaster preparedness training to university employees; preparing emergency plans and procedures for natural (tornados, flood, earthquakes, health emergencies/pandemics) and technological (hazardous materials events) disasters and civil unrests/ hostage situations; QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, industrial hygiene or other related field; minimum 3 years experience in environmental health and safety field to include experience in emergency planning; experience with State of Tennessee regulations relative to environmental protection, hazardous waste management, hazardous materials management, OSHA and EPA compliance; certifications in Asbestos Inspection and Life Safety code proficiency preferred; familiarity with FEMA National Incident Management System preferred; thorough knowledge of theories, practices and procedures relating to health, safety and regulatory compliance are required; knowledge of working of health, safety and environmental regulatory agencies and ability to effectively communicate with same; working knowledge of fire/safety code compliance and emergency planning; requires effective communication skills; must be able to respond to campus after hours or on weekends and share in departmental on-call rotation.
