Job Requirements:
- Requires BA/BS or equivalent in Health Information Management.
- Must have current certification by AHIMA.
- Two to five years experience in Health Information Management Department.
- Management experience preferred.
Job Duties:
- Monitors staff’s performance to assure maximum staff productivity and compliance with department’s performance improvement activities through data collection, analysis, preparation of management reports.
- Facilitates training of new staff and employee development, staff scheduling, performance evaluations and staff discipline to ensure smooth operation of the medical record department by observing staff interaction, communicating departmental policies and employee expectations, and providing necessary training as determined by employees.
- Serves as an active participant on assign committees providing medical record expertise to assist in meeting goals of department and facility.
- Serve as the coding specialist to ensure timely assignment of ICD-9 and CPT codes for optimal reimbursement by supervising all aspects of the coding process.
- Monitors internal coding quality to ensure compliance with ICD-9 and CPT coding rules through data collection, analysis and preparation of management reports.
